Tonight we hand over the club to our friends at Finger Lickin' as they celebrate 10 years deep fried funk and delicious disco breaks. From the label that brought us the Plump DJs, Drumattic Twins, A-Skillz, Lee Coombs and more will be head honcho Soul Of Man and the red hot Slyde on the ones and twos.
Having sold millions of records to date, recorded with the likes of REM's Michael Stipe, and performed with U2 and others on mega-stadium tours, Utah Saints remain one of the most trail-blazing outfits within electronic music and this years re-release of 'Something Good' has been one of the biggest selling records of 2008. But did you know they also produce breaks under the name Beat Vandals?
Noisia are part of a new breed of producers heralding new directions not only for Drum & Bass but many other genres in which they dabble, such as Breaks, House and Downtempo. Having achieved high levels of success within all these genres, now they aim to expand their reach beyond the confines of the expected.
At the age 14 the afro-haired producer Benga went to his first club - 'Forward', the night widely acknowledged for pioneering the bassy UK garage / dubstep hybrid sound. At 15 he released his debut 12" 'Skank/Dose' and now at 21, having put in years of graft, Benga is a leading light in the rising global dubstep movement alongside his childhood friend, Skream.
